Young Moms

Young Moms is a creatively-named um, club?, group?, loose alliance?, of young moms (mostly college-educated SAHMS) who live in SoCal and go to the same conservative Episcopal church. We meet in the park every week so the kids can run their wiggles out and we can talk to people who form sentences with more than three words. And now we blog together too!

Quick, easy, healthy recipe

Crock Pot Lentils and Sausage

8 oz dried lentils, rinsed but not soaked
15 oz can diced tomatos, drained
2 carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
chopped onion, if desired
2 cups beef broth
1 to 1 and 1/2 cups water
1 lb kielbasa sausage (pre-cooked - ready to eat) cut into half-wheels

Toss everything in a crock pot and cook on low for 6-7 hours. Stir well and serve!

This was very new to me - lentils aren't something I've eaten much of - but it was REALLY good! And it is a balanced meal, and it really only costs about $4 for the whole pot. You should all try it. :)

Constructive Playthings

I was flipping through this catalog today and found something that we might end up getting for Jonathan's Christmas gift. But before I order, I thought I'd ask if anyone else is thinking of Christmas presents and wanted to consider ordering with me? (It saves on shipping, you know!) You can find the catalog online here if you want to take a look. And do let me know if you're thinking about it, ok?

Free bedding

Someone dropped off some very nice bedding for a baby boy at the office this week. Does anyone want it? There's a matching crib bumper, lamp shade, mobile, blanket, crib skirt, and I think curtains. They're a really lovely green, blue, red and cream plaid pattern. I'd keep them in a second if I had a boy!

Babytalk funnies

I don't know how many of you read "BabyTalk" magazine, but I read this in the current issue and thought it was hilarious. :)

"See Our Breasts"
(to the tune of "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast)

See our breasts, see our breasts -
Everywhere, half-naked chests.
While we nurse,
The prudish curse
And wish we'd button up our vests.
Sorry, folks, look away
If we're too decollete,
But this IS what boobs are made for,
Not those Wonderbras you've paid for.
We refuse to go feed
Hunched in bathroom stalls - indeed,
We're appalled that you would make such rude requests.
Would you agree to eat
Upon a toilet seat?
See our breasts, see our breasts, free our breasts!
